To ensure mobile wireless communication coverage in the 185-meter-high Omniturm, an office and residential building in Frankfurt am Main’s city center, the developers have decided to install a passive DAS system containing SPINNER products.
The demands on mobile communication building and property coverage are constantly increasing. Today, buyers and tenants expect mobile communications to work perfectly in all areas of a building.
With its cost-optimized and maintenance-free passive components, SPINNER supplies everything that is required for a future-oriented wireless in-building system. There is no additional power consumption for mobile communications reception and the components are 100% recyclable, making the passive system suitable for "green building".
Omniturm Frankfurt am Main (Germany)
The challenge for SPINNER has been to provide the "Omniturm" high-rise building with secure wireless coverage (GSM/UMTS/LTE/5G) in MIMO technology for all 46 floors with a gross total area of more than 60 000 square meters. The in-house antennas have been connected using equipment installed in two dedicated control rooms. For each operator and control room, one three sector base station per band has been connected using a SPINNER MNCS® system.

A total of 270 SPINNER Panel MIMO antennas have been installed. The installation was carried out at the center of the building and concealed behind paneling. Due to the optimal positioning of the antennas, coverage of 95% of the building's area could be achieved.

In addition, 80 SPINNER MIMO Omni antennas have been installed in underground garages and special VIP areas. Elevators have also been equipped with antennas at the top and bottom of the elevator shaft. This ensures stable and fast signal transmission from the moment a person enters the building anywhere, from deep in the basement garage right up to a workplace on the 46th floor.
SPINNER Combiner and passive components for DAS system
SPINNER has supplied all the combiners as well as all the passive components for the DAS system, i.e. the cables, connectors and jumpers, as well as all tappers and splitters. In addition, SPINNER carried out the PIM and VSWR measurement and testing for the handover of the in-building system to the network operators. The customer thus only has one contact person for all the required passive components. The just-in-time deliveries could thus be coordinated quickly and easily.
