Who doesn't know the situation? You need to take measurements and then you find that the previous user left a defective test port connector on the measuring instrument. The inner conductor of the test port connector has been damaged and the measuring cable cannot be reconnected with the same precision as previously. Repeatable measurement results can therefore no longer be expected.
We are now dealing with an expensive breakdown. It's not just the cost of repairs. The downtime of a measuring device, a vector network analyzer for example, as well as any rental fees and shipping costs for a replacement device, will also be charged to the project budget.
SPINNER has a solution ready. With the new SPINNER ruggedized precision test port adapters, so-called port replicators, also known as sacrificial adapters or wear-and-tear connectors, you can effectively protect the test port connector on your measuring instrument against accidental damage and wear.By repeatedly disconnecting the measuring connection only using this sacrificial connector instead of using the measuring device port, the service life of this device can be considerably extended. Usual maintenance intervals are extended, and malfunctions and repairs are avoided. The risk of jeopardizing the projected market launch schedule for a new RF product is eliminated.

The use of coaxial measuring cables with standard connectors, e.g., the SPINNER articulated lines, is also possible on these ruggedized test port adapters. No additional adapters are required. All this immediately and permanently reduces your operational costs in the laboratory.
An additional ball bearing in the coupling nut of the SPINNER ruggedized test port adapters prevents direct friction on the outer conductor. There is no more abrasion between the coupling nut and the outer conductor. The possible rotation of the outer conductor when tightening the coupling screw in certain pairings is eliminated. The rotational stability of the coaxial connection always remains guaranteed. Dust on one of the connector sides can no longer be permanently ground into the opposite mating face. The advantages of these new SPINNER precision adapters therefore go without saying.

A ruggedized connector uses a large threaded body to stabilize a test cable when connected to the test port of an RF measuring device. These connectors allow the direct connection of a corresponding precision coaxial connector with its standard coupling thread. NMD stands for Network Measurement Division, an outdated term for the original Hewlett Packard division (now Keysight) that produced the network analyzers.
