SPINNER has just released an important component for enabling the concurrent use of TDD and FDD in the 2600 MHz frequency band: our new diplexer BN 570761, which lets you combine bands 7 and 38 without any interference.
In time division duplex (TDD), uplink is separated from downlink by allocating different time slots in the same frequency band. Frequency division duplex (FDD) lets connected parties communicate via separate frequency bands for sending and receiving. Both approaches maximize use of the base stations’ resources and available bandwidth. It’s crucial to correctly choose and/or combine them to maximize the Internet speed.
SPINNER Diplexer for bands 7 and 8 of the 2600 MHz spectrum
The available bandwidths of a FDD network (broken down into 5-, 10-, 15-, and 20-MHz frequency blocks) are divided among all active users. The data rates and transmission speeds therefore decrease as the number of users increases. TDD, by contrast, allows so-called asymmetrical data transmission – with more downloads than uploads – to achieve greater efficiency in each individual frequency band.
The challenge with hybrid solutions is to prevent transmission and reception (TX and RX) frequencies from interfering with one another within the defined TDD and FDD frequency bands, for example by applying the 3GPP Mobile Broadband Standard for bands 7 and 38. The SPINNER diplexer enables you as a network operator to implement hybrid topologies of this kind at 2600 MHz.
In the case of band 7, the assigned frequency range for the FDD uplink is 2500–2570 MHz and for the downlink it’s 2620–2690 MHz. TDD band 38, spanning the frequencies from 2570 to 2620 MHz, is precisely midway between them. It’s an opportunity to achieve very broadband transmission. Frequently, however, it is difficult or impossible to take advantage of it because older technical solutions interfere with the FDD spectrum.
The new SPINNER diplexer BN 570761 is able to combine bands 7 (FDD) and 38 (TDD) without any interference. It features a typical insertion loss of less than 1 dB with very good isolation between TDD and FDD. It minimizes interference for both the FDD and the TDD band (reducing it by at least 60 dB) and achieves optimal transmission quality to ensure satisfied customers. With its good passive intermodulation (PIM) properties, this diplexer is an important component for optimally marketing the 2600 MHz frequency band.
