Combiner Solutions to Public Colombian Broadcasting Corporation

Señal Colombia Sistema de Medios Publicos (RTVC) awarded the turnkey project for the digitalization of the first 14 digital stations to a joint venture of the Colombian and Spanish Rohde & Schwarz local companies.

SPINNER was chosen by this consortium in order to implement the demanding requirements of the customer for the whole RF system between the transmitters and the antenna.

SPINNER designed one integrated system including the following:

• combining of adjacent channels
• mask filtering included in the combiner system
• automatic switching system in order to switch automatically one of the transmitters to the common load
• plug-in switches that can be easily replaced with manual U-links in case of failure
• half antenna patch panel integrated in the solution
• a integrated SPINNER common dummy load
• water cooled filters and combiners, using the cooling system of the transmitter

The result is a compact system that does not only save footprint at the transmission room, but makes as well the logistic and the installation much easier.

Installation of a TV station has never been so easy, as all elements (patch panels, switches, combiners, loads, etc.) are delivered preassembled. And the main advantage, all elements are tested and guaranteed by the same supplier.

This Network will broadcast all national and regional TV channels.

As part of the contract with the turnkey integrator, SPINNER delivered a complete RF training to employees of RTVC, regional channels and the Colombian Regulation Authority (ANTV) including a visit to the highest TV station in Bavaria, Wendelstein.
