SPINNER has extended its Low PIM portfolio with an additional group of products – the SPINNER Low PIM rotary joints. In measuring environments or with transmitting/receiving equipment on moving objects (e.g. ships), connecting cables are exposed to strong torsion forces. Our Low PIM rotary joint completely reduces the burden on these cables and increases their lifespan significantly.Through the use of the SPINNER EasyDock adapters and SPINNER Low PIM switches, it is possible to save a considerable amount of time and costs in RF test environments. The new SPINNER Low PIM rotary joints offer even a further potential for possible savings. In test environments, measuring cables are often subject to heavy strain. Our SpinnerFlex TopFit measuring cables are optimized for applications of this kind and therefore very robust and resilient. In the case of torsion, however, the forces which occur cannot be completely compensated for which means the measuring cables wear out sooner. It is here that the SPINNER Low PIM rotary joints help, as they are a rotating element in the connection between the measuring device and test object and compensate for such forces without any problem without impairing the PIM measuring results.A classic case of use is, for example, antenna measuring chambers. An antenna which is already cabled for measuring is guided into the antenna chamber and turned during the measuring process. The rotational forces on the measuring cable are compensated for easily by the Low PIM rotary joints, and the lifespan of the cable is extended by a long way.The SPINNER Low PIM rotary joint is already used in the area of classic mobile communication. On near-coastal ships, mobile communications signals with several frequency bands are sent to the mainland via an antenna. Due to the movement of the ships, a permanent alignment of the antenna is required in order to ensure the optimum contact with the mobile communications masts which are situated on the mainland. This application would not be possible without the Low PIM rotary joint from SPINNER. The use of conventional rotary joints is not feasible here, because the simultaneous transmission of several frequency bands would lead to strong PIM interference signals within the useful bands. In this area, our customers are able to benefit from our experiences in the fields of mobile communications and rotating solutions. SPINNER is the first manufacturer to have developed a Low PIM capable rotary joint. In this way, our company has demonstrated its power of innovation once again and is enabling its customers’ possible applications that have never been seen before.
